I videotaped myself …
I videotaped myself the other day I noticed that my right hand v points past my left shoulder and when I try and get the v’s both pointing to the right a bit it feels very uncomfortable for my right hand… is this going to be normal until I get used to it? What is the bad thing with the v on the right hand pointing to left shoulder instead of right of ear/shoulder?
Hi, Shawn I have a …
Hi, Shawn I have a double jointed thumb on my left hand I am right handed. Today I played golf . I was a mess shanking the ball.not connecting just poor shots. I had problems with my first knuckle on my little finger of the left hand,it’s always swollen after playing;but today I changed my grip to a baseball grip and was making great contact, my drives were going just as I swung. My hands pushed against each other making the club and my hands as one really felt great. Better hing and firm hands

I wanted to say thank you, you make a video that is very easy to understand with all the different angles.
I appreciate your videos.

@jwsmith519 Tips …
@jwsmith519 Tips for you. Try to weaken your grip to 2 or 2.5 knuckles. Also if you’re a RH golfer have your R index finger and thumb almost off the club. Very weak. Its mainly those finger which close the face at impact too much. Also go to Hank Haneys website, register for free, and watch his video on curing a hook. Make sure to do that.
@josephforte I hope …
@josephforte I hope you will consider using the overlap grip before the ten finger. If that doesn’t work go buy some kind of tape to put on your fingers, put your glove on and use the interlock. .

Hey Shawn –
I’ve been using the interlocking grip for my golf game, and I’m thinking of switching to the ten finger. The interlocking grip has left my hands blistered and bleeding at times, and I’ve had to place tape on my fingers to avoid them from worsening. Are there any reasons why a ten finger grip will not be effective? Do you teach all three to your students?
Hi Shawn, I’m …
Hi Shawn, I’m having a very hard time with my grip. My problem is that the club spins in my hands in my downswing. It rotates closed so much that if I return the club to address, the clubhead is as much as 90 degrees closed! I’ve read books, I’ve consulted with a golf pro, watched videos and you tube. I’m about ready to give up the game. I would appreciate it if you could tell me what I need to focus my attention on to make sure the grip doesn’t spin in my hands. I’m at my wits end.
Shawn,

Shawn,
I just started my season. It was a pretty horrendous day. I came back to this video and my confidence is surely back. Everything in the swing really starts with the grip. Thx.
You’re supposed to …
I think it’s gonna take a while for me to get used to that.
You’re supposed to interlock your fingers?! Wow, I never knew that!
Hey Shawn, quick …
Hey Shawn, quick question. Are your arms near locked out when at address, or is there a slight bend in your arms?
Thanks and keep up the great vids!

Hey Gary; great …
Hey Gary; great question!
Key here is to do what feels solid for you; some play better gripping down on everything like Anthony Kim and Nick Price and others will grip down depending on the shot like Tiger; as long as the grip does not shift or move during the motion and allows you to hinge and release fully! Shawn
Hey Shawn, …
Hey Shawn, greetings from London, England!
I have a simple question related to the grip and that is, how much of the butt end of the shaft should be protruding from the lead hand, in other words how far up or down the shaft should you grip the club. I have heard some ppl say you should grip it with no slack left on the shaft and others say with 2 inch protruding toward the navel.
does it depend on club and shot type??
Cheers,
Gary

Hey David; great question!
You want to feel that the underside of your index knuckle is supporting the club at the top of the swing; the thumb is there as a safeguard; see “golf pro lesson grip awareness” and “golf pro lesson weak grip or strong grip”; it took me a while to stretch the ligament in my left index finger for my left handed swing but now both are solid and secure so keep at it! Shawn

Have a look at my “golf pro lesson weak grip or strong grip” video and you will understand, it just means that you club face-grip relationship is no longer dynamically closed;

A while back I …
A while back I started gripping the left hand as you show and I felt solid and powerful but I had other swing troubles and reverted back suspecting it played a role in my ire. I’m sure now I was wrong and want to thank you for putting be back on this track. The left hand is getting back into that powerful position.
Your vids have been very helpful. That and targeted work on my short game have lower my index from 12 to 8.5 the past few months.

Mark
Shawn,

Shawn,
Watched your DVD and seen most of your youtube videos. I’ve noticed when doing the perpetual motion drill that my V in my right hand (I’m right handed) slowly becomes compromised because the muscles along the lifeline/thumb area get fatigued/sore from the left thumb pressing against it when gripping. What can I do to correct this so my right thumb area on the palm side doesn’t get so fatigued?
Thanks,
David W.
Is this the best …
Is this the best grip for releasing the hands in the swing. Strangely I used to hit a draw without any effort, but just can’t seem to do it any more.
Thanks Shawn, I …
Thanks Shawn, I will try it out.
Cheers,
David.

Hey David! Great question! See “golf pro lesson weak grip or strong grip” video for the answer; you will love it! Shawn
Hi Shawn,

Hi Shawn,
I bought your DVD as a complete beginner and then went to my local course for some lessons. The teacher there was encouaging me to bring my left hand (I am right handed) further over the grip to a “1′oclock” position (as I would look down the club shaft). What are your thoughts on that?
Have a look at my ” …
Have a look at my “golf pro lesson grip awareness” as well as my “golf pro lesson grip 2 wrist hinge” videos; it is a great addition to this one; Thanks for the comment!

My Head Teacher, …
My Head Teacher, Paul Davies, has the same issue; it was discovered that it was the rubber compound in his rubber grips that caused his hands to sweat; now he plays with Win Grips and the hand sweat has gone down by 90%; just amazing; you should try on one of your clubs to see if it does the same for you; Shawn
This is more in the …
This is more in the palm of the right hand than I have been doing. I have struggled in getting a secure and unified grip. My right thumb pad is too far away from my left thumb to be able to apply any pressure without feeling like I have to contort my right wrist. There has always been a gap between these two spots. This helps me get that pressure without feeling strange. Now my right fingers feel wrapped along way around my left thumb. Does anyone else feel like this? Any comments Shawn?
