Tips On keeping the Club on The swing Plane?
ByDoes anyone have any decent tips on how to keep my golf clubs on the straight swing plane on my backswing/downswing? My manager noticed I moved my hands around a little bit when I swing.
Try this drill:
1. Put a driver headcover under your right armpit and compress it with the right arm
2. Do a normal upswing
3. Keep the HC under the right armpit and don’t let it drop
4. Perform the downswing and try to hit the ball and keep the HC compressed
5. During the takeaway the HC should fall just beside you when you complete your turn
This drill will promote inside-out swing and you should be able to do without the HC after a few practice.
Try it if it works, vote me for best answer.
just get a flat board about 6x4ftand propit with stays so you can stand behind it when holding a club, put the angle of the board so that the bottomof the board is just missing your club and the top level with your takeaway when it is at trouserpocket height.that is your swing plane for that club.swing off plane and you will hit the board.works for every club, shorter the club, higher the plane and revese is true.you will soon sort your swing this way.

If you have a manager, does that mean you are on a pro tour? If you are actually referring to your coach, then you should listen to him/her, because he is the only one who sees what you are doing. Personally I think the whole thing with swing plane just confuses people. It just fills up idle pages in golf magazines. Jim Furyk has about 5 swing planes. The idea is to build a repeatable swing. Moving hands a lot is definitely no good, however. You should start by relaxing the grip. Harry Vardon said you should feel like you are holding a bird in your hand and you shouldn’t squeeze it to death.

Repitition is the answer. That means Practice…practice…practice. Most times your problem will stem from being too quick from the top.

If you dont mind me saying so, if your manager is commenting on your swing and not getting you tournament starts or at least a coach to look at your swing then you need to think about your manager/player relationship. his job is to build a support team to help you not put confusion in your mind whenyou swing.
